NYC LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY FOR FAMILIES, NEWBORNS & BRANDING
THE EXPERIENCE
CAPTURING YOUR MEMORIES IN FIVE EASY STEPS

let’s chat
Thinking of booking a shoot? Contact me to set up a consultation! We’ll get to know each other while discussing what you’re looking for, answer any questions you may have, and check on availability. I recommend booking three months out—especially for newborn sessions. Last-minute shoots are occasionally available, but within three months you’ll have more options!

lock it in
Once we have our date, we’ll pick out a time that works (based on your family’s needs and when we can get that bright, sparkly light), fill out a contract, and seal the deal with a deposit (prices start at $1,180). Next, I’ll share my signature photoshoot and outfit guides—some helpful resources to help you feel totally prepared and confident for your special day of capturing memories.

we shoot!
I’ll touch base before your photoshoot so you’re ready (and excited!). Making sure the experience is as comfortable and fun as possible for everyone (kids & newborns included) is one of my top priorities. And if things don’t seem to go smoothly—little ones can be unpredictable—we’ll still get the gorgeous photos you want. I can even “sneak peek” a couple shots on the @michellerosephoto Instagram account!

choose your faves
A week after the shoot you’ll get a proofing gallery. You’ll get to choose your family’s favorites, share any retouching comments, then our top retouchers hand edit each of your photos to perfection. Thanks to my experience as a NYC magazine photo editor, I treat each photoshoot as though it will end up in a magazine—and some actually do!

beautiful photos!
You’ll receive your family’s or brand’s final retouched digital gallery via a private link. The final photos are digital files that are yours to keep, print, post, and share with your friends and family for years to come. Can’t get enough? You are always welcome to order extra images for retouching beyond the ones that come with your session.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during my photography experience?
Family Sessions
At a family session, you can expect me to use the time we have together to get a variety of poses – group shots, solos, small groups, both posed and unposed. Capturing the essence of your family at a location of your choice – whether it’s in your New York City apartment, in Central Park or Binney Park, at a beach in the Hamptons, or a special place for your family.
Maternity Sessions
During a maternity session, we will discuss the type of images you are looking for before the session. We can focus on your bump in a variety of setups. I’ll help you with wardrobe and choosing a location that best suits how you want to remember this very special time. First-time parents can choose up to four outfits.
Newborn Sessions
During a newborn session, you can expect a baby-led photoshoot. The focus is on capturing this amazing stage of life in a calm and warm environment. Most sessions take place at home and can include the whole family, just the baby, or just the kids. I’ll work with you beforehand to choose locations in your home based on the best light and timing for your family. Newborn sessions are 90 minutes to allow for diaper changes, feeds, outfit changes, and general fussiness. I strive to create a stress-free environment so you can relax and enjoy the session.
Cake Smash Session
During a cake smash session, we split the session between a 15-20 minute pre-smash family photoshoot and the smash itself. With white-background paper and lights (if needed!), 90-minute sessions include more time for family photos and smashing!
How far in advance should I book a newborn session?
I suggest booking three months in advance if you have a specific date in mind.
For newborn sessions, we will pick a date about two weeks after birth; maternity sessions are usually best around six months; cake smash sessions are booked four weeks before you want to share birthday images, and family sessions can happen at any time!
What should my family wear for our photoshoot?
You’ll receive two guides before your session to help with outfits. One is a session guide breaking down logistics with tips for the most successful shoot ever!
The second guide is an exclusive fashion guide (spring/summer or fall/winter) created by Liz Teich of The New York Stylist just for my clients. It has shoppable links, trends, tips, and discounts!
Do you professionally retouch all images?
First, you will make your selection of images from your gallery. Then all of your selections will be sent for retouching.
I send out my images to top retouchers based in Brooklyn. They are the same team I used for my magazine sessions when I worked in editorial.
You can expect detailed retouching to your specifications. We generally touch up skin, remove any background distractions, clothing wrinkles, and stains, and color- and lighting-correct. This makes your final images frame-worthy!
What happens if my child doesn’t cooperate during the session?
The biggest thing to remember is that my camera takes photos faster than one second, so even the most fleeting smile in the middle of a tantrum can be captured. 😉 I specialize in photographing large families and working with children (and dads) who don’t love the camera, so if you’re nervous, don’t be. I’ve got you!
How long does it take to receive my finished photos after the session?
You’ll receive a proofing gallery within one week after your session. From there, you’ll select your top images for retouching (25 or 30 come with the session, depending on how long your session is). It takes about two weeks after selection for the final images to be sent to you via a private, password-protected gallery.
You’ll be able to print and buy gifts at the gift shop directly from the gallery.
